March In Oakland Supports Iranian Protestors

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Dozens of people marched through Oakland on Sunday to show their support for protestors in Iran.

They say it's the most they can do to support a cause that is thousands of miles away.

It was a silent protest, but the message was loud and clear thanks to signs carried by many of the protestors.

People participating in the walk say they feel the need to protest what they call a "sham election" of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The incumbent leader was declared the winner of Iran's recent election, but some people living in Iran say they have their doubts and are calling for a recount.

People at today's walk in Oakland say they just want to see an end to the violence against protestors and fellow students in Iran.

They say they also want people in Pittsburgh to understand what is going on in Iran.

The event was organized by the Persian Panthers, which is Pitt's Iranian student organization.
