Butler Child Luring Suspect In Jail

BUTLER (KDKA) ― A Butler County man is in jail after police say he tried to lure a 5-year-old girl off her front porch.

Her father, Chuck Kessler, spoke exclusively to KDKA-TV.

"I looked out and it was a guy in a red ball cap and a red t-shirt and blue jeans," he explained. "I got out here as fast as I could and I looked at the guy and said, 'What are you doing to my daughter?' and all he said was, 'I'm saying hi. And I said, 'No you're not. I'm calling the police.'"

The encounter happened at about 5:30 p.m. on June 18 on the front porch of Kessler's home on Carbon Street in Butler.

When police found the suspect, he gave them a fake name and address.

Investigators eventually identified the man as 28-year-old Scott Walker.

The girl says Walker came up to the porch and said, "Pretty please come here," and motioned for her to come towards him before her father chased him away.

Walker has been charged with interference with the custody of children, attempting to interfere with the custody of children, giving false identity to law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

He is in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bond.

Police say that most recently, Walker lived at a rehab home just around the corner from the Kesslers.

The family believes he may also be responsible for following their older daughter home last summer.
