Poem: Big Butler Fair
The Big Butler Fair is a big Butler fair.
With two hundred forty packed acres out there.
How many things can I fit in one rhyme,
With so much to see, and so little time?
What's new? We'll talk to the guy who decides.
"This year," he says, "we have seven new rides."
They're mostly for kids, when all's said and done.
"My kids are having fun, I'm having fun."
For some, it's all new. Great moments abound.
"She's never been on the merry-go-round."
The pitch, and a strike, as his mother exclaims:
"They've been riding and playing games."
This game's addictive, once you've begun it.
"He's hot. They're not," says the barker. "He won it."
Life's little triumphs. All part of the plan.
I gave her the prize and won a new fan.
You can win big stuff, if you know where.
"Ring toss," says one. Says another: "Right there."
There are shows here a-plenty, too many for words.
The one I like best is That Guy with the Birds.
Chainsaw sculptors work through the day, Letting the chips just fall where they may.
Speaking of chips, to fill every mood,
Most popular part is "The gyros. The food."
They have dozens of choices, as every fair should.
"I like the funnel cake. It's really good"
Funnel cake makers make really fine bakers.
It doesn't take long to find lots of takers.
Our weather dude learns of the palm reader's powers.
"I'm afraid we're gonna have a little rain showers."
Come rain or come shine, we don't really care.
Things are just ducky at Big Butler Fair.
