David Highfield
KDKA-TV News at 11 p.m. Best known for his breaking news coverage and creative live shots, he actually joined KDKA behind the scenes as a producer in 1993.
He quickly wound up in front of the camera as both the Westmoreland County Bureau Chief and then the Beaver/Butler Counties Bureau Chief, before landing the 11 o'clock reporter spot.
David has covered some of the most memorable stories in our area including the crash of Flight 427 in Hopewell Township, the Richard Baumhammer shooting spree, and most recently, he filed live reports on local folks helping Hurricane Katrina victims in the south.
David has won a Matrix Award for flood coverage and a Golden Quill for feature reporting.
David attended Ford City High School and went on to graduate from the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University, with high honors. (He actually graduated in three years, after KDKA asked him to start full-time as soon as possible).
David lives in Kennedy Township.
