Missing Friends Found In Beaver County

NEW BRIGHTON (KDKA) ― An elderly woman who was reported missing is in serious but stable condition at Allegheny General Hospital.

Helen McCoy, 85, was found alive in a car over an embankment in New Brighton.

Her friend, Robert Harris, 73, who was also reported missing, was dead. The Beaver County Coroner ruled he died from an abdominal aortic aneurysm while driving.

Family members found the vehicle.

"I saw where they went off the road and see, I live in the country and it looked like a tractor, when I went over there, I could see that it was new stuff. I had trouble walking down there, so my husband was right behind me, and he's the one who found the car," Bev McCoy said. "It's resting against a tree. Evidently, whatever happened, his foot was on the accelerator."

McCoy survived for days in the cold without her medicines. She could not get out of the car to seek help because she is an amputee.

"It was the good Lord. It was just one of those things that He let us know and we saw it," Bev McCoy said.
