Community members are mourning the loss of three Seneca Valley High School students who died overnight.
Trevor Barkley, 17, of Lancaster Township, Sam Bucci, 18, of Zelienople and Elijah Lunsford, 18, formerly of Zelienople died when the vehicle they were in went off the road and into a lake in Marion Township.
A grief crisis team was called to the Seneca Valley High School today to help students and faculty deal with the loss of the three seniors.
Bucci was a player on the school's baseball team and was a volunteer firefighter with the Zelienople Fire Department.
Lunsford was also a volunteer firefighter with Bucci.
The teens were expected to attend a meeting at the fire hall and when they didn't show up, the search began.
Around 1 a.m., the families reported the teens were missing. Police then pinged one of their cell phones and got a three mile radius of where the teens could be.
Around 4 a.m., a police officer on patrol noticed tracks leaving the road in the direction of the lake at the Zelienople-Harmony Sportsmen's Club on Ben Venue Road.
The officer followed the tracks and discovered a black Ford Explorer in the water and called for emergency officials.
According to Zelienople Police Chief Jim Miller, divers pulled the bodies of two of the teenagers from the vehicle and later found the third in the lake.
Officials believe that the driver lost control of the vehicle prior to entering the water.
