Official Calls For Change At Fatal Accident Site
SOUTH BEAVER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) ―

A state representative is calling for change after four people were killed in a crash at a dangerous intersection in the county that he represents.
State police will start accident reconstruction in the next 24 to 48 hours. The intersection of Routes168 and 51 in South Beaver Township has seen bad accidents before, but most happen during the daytime.
The situation has prompted at least one state representative to take action.
"It has been promised for years to be fixed. Unfortunately, it has been under-delivered. So my feeling is, we need a long-term solution and finally get this done, roll up our sleeves and get with county and local and PennDOT and find out how we can find a solution," Rep. Jim Christiana said.
According to drivers that KDKA's Ross Guidotti spoke with, people go out of their way to avoid that intersection by driving further down Route 51 and taking an alternate route.
Drivers also said that the thing that probably would go the longest to prevent accidents is simply a traffic light.
The identities of the victims who died in the crash are:
- Louis Henry Young IV, 23, of Beaver Falls.
- Bryan Charles Atkinson, 23, of Beaver Falls.
- Joshua Jay Tate, 22, of Beaver Falls.
- Jessica Demarco, 25, of Beaver Falls.
PennDOT and South Beaver Township are going to have to figure out where and when they could put a light in, if they pursue that option.
