Vigil Held For Freedom Stabbing Victim

FREEDOM (KDKA) ― A community in Freedom is mourning after a woman was stabbed to death.

Employees from the Walmart in Center Township were among those who gathered outside the home where their coworker, 54-year-old Elizabeth Grosskopf, was found.

Her body was wrapped in a blanket and found on some attic steps behind a door inside her Fifth Avenue home.

The Beaver County Coroner says the woman was stabbed at least 20 times.

"Everyone at Walmart is pretty close to each other and something like this, so devastating, that you know it's hard to even put in words," Sue Sargeson, a co-worker, said.

A 33-year-old tenant who lived inside the home was jailed on probation violations after the body was found.

He does not face any charges in connection to Grosskopf's death.

Hope Bressler helped organize the vigil.

"She was a wonderful woman. She could do no harm to nobody," Bressler said. "All she ever wanted was somebody to love her – that's all she ever wanted."
