Baden Couple Charged With Growing Marijuana

BADEN (KDKA) ― A couple from Beaver County allegedly turned their home into a greenhouse for marijuana.

Edward Alberts, 41, of Baden, and Alexandra Reeher, his 20-year-old girlfriend, are both facing charges.

Investigators seized cash, about six pounds of marijuana, a digital scale and computer discs containing images of Alberts and Reeher cultivating and preparing pot for sale.

Alberts told KDKA's Mary Robb Jackson he learned to grow marijuana on websites and it was a hobby that got out of hand.

He lived at the home with his girlfriend and his 14-year-old son. Because of that, he was charged with endangering the welfare of children and corruption of a minor in addition to drug charges.

Alberts also says his girlfriend was giving birth to their son in the hospital when they were busted.

According to the police affidavit, Alberts was offering 10 varieties of marijuana and selling about $1,000 worth a month.
