Cash For Clunkers Program Begins

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The government's Cash for Clunkers program officially began Thursday.

While boosting new car sales is one goal, the main focus is environmental.

You only qualify if it's 18 miles per gallon or less and you must buy a more fuel efficient car – at least four miles per gallon better.

To sweeten the deal, some local dealers are offering their own incentives.

Chrysler has already announced it will match the $4,500 clunker deal.
