Lawrence County Gets 'On The Move'

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) ― People in Lawrence County got moving today with America On The Move.

More than 100 people came out today for a walk hosted by fitness expert Leslie Sansone.

The activities started indoors, and then headed outside and featured healthy snacks, as well as pedometers, t-shirts and exercise video giveaways.

"It's really important that we understand activity is for everyone, getting up off the couch and moving, not having to join a gym or become a marathon runner," said Dr. John Jakicic, of the University of Pittsburgh. "Put a pedometer on, add an extra 2,000 steps and it's really going to go a long way in improving your health."

KDKA's Stephanie Watson helped kick off the event this morning in New Castle.
