Resolve To Lose Weight In '08? Get Moving!
This week's tip toward getting healthier: Walk & Talk!
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
Shedding at least a few extra pounds is a New Year's resolution that many of us have made at some point in our lives. If you've resolved to lose weight in '08, one sure way to do so is to get moving with America On The Move!
Obesity rates have been rising in the country and Pennsylvania is no exception. In fact, one recent study found that nearly 25-percent of Pennsylvanians are considered obese.
But leading a healthier lifestyle is as simple as moving more and eating less.
"It's as simple as adding about 2,000 steps a day to your lifestyle," America On The Move's Dr. John Jakicic explains. "It's as simple as cutting back about 100 to 200-calories a day that'll actually help to curb weight gain and probably start to promote weight loss!"
According to Dr. Jakicic, losing as little as 10 pounds will help you become a 50 percent healthier person.
To help you meet your goal, we're going to be posting a new tip every Monday on the America On the Move section of our website. Each will take you one step closer to better health.
You can even print them out and keep track of your progress!
